On Thursday the 30th of November Grade 3 had an overnight camping experience on the school grounds at Léman as an education outside the classroom opportunity linked to our IPC topic about Scavengers and Settlers. The purpose of this experience was to assist children in learning and developing skills they will need in their lives beyond school. The main skills were collaboration, leadership, self-management, resilience and thinking skills. Students were involved with gathering materials and making a campfire, pitching a tent, setting up their own bedding and helping with food preparation. A highlight was roasting marshmallows around the campfire! This camp was also a great opportunity to develop relationships across grade levels, as we enjoyed support from some of the older Duke of Edinburgh Award students. A special thank you to all of those who contributed to making this camp the success that it was.
