MUN Trip 11 students from grades 7-12 travelled with Mr. Powell and Mrs. Mindorff November 17-19 to participate in Nord Anglia's fourth annual Model United Nations event held at NAIS Shanghai, Pudong campus. The theme of this event was ‘Unequal Opportunities’, which can relate to many different aspects of inequality: gender inequality, social inequality and political inequality. It also addressed problems within international relations.  

Model United Nations Conference, Pudong, Shanghai (NAISMUN IV)

11 students from grades 7-12 travelled with Mr. Powell and Mrs. Mindorff November 17-19 to participate in Nord Anglia's fourth annual Model United Nations event held at NAIS Shanghai, Pudong campus. The theme of this event was ‘Unequal Opportunities’, which can relate to many different aspects of inequality: gender inequality, social inequality and political inequality. It also addressed problems within international relations.  

The key note speaker, Seif Usher(a member of HM Diplomatic Service posted to the British Consulate-General in Shanghai), told our students to give power to the spoken word and to act with integrity.

Jasmine Penstone-Miller was recognized as the most improved delegate in the Human Rights Council representing the UK. Johnny Mindorff, representing Egypt in the Youth Committee was recognized as the most improved delegate in his committee.   Adia Semrau Heyres representing the USA  was recognized as the best delegate in the Youth Committee.

The Committees our students served on included:

Economic and Social Council – Cleophee Bruchou and Danyal Bokari

Environmental Council – Camille Lv and Abdullah Muhammad

General Assembly II – Jan Liu

Human Rights Council – Martin Ma and Jasmine Penstone-Miller

Security Council – Eileen Zeng and Patrick Braun
