Students across Upper Primary and Secondary School have been exploring the differences and similarities in countries and cultures all over the world.

International Week has been a week of different, exciting activities designed to inspire curiosity for adventure. Year Six have been concentrating on countries in Eastern Europe and Year Five have been focusing on countries in the Amazon basin. Our virtual tour gave students in Year Six the opportunity to get involved with the countries of Eastern Europe, researching both physical and human geographic features of the region. Not to miss a chance to be creative, the students produced a magnificent display of national flags.

Year Five took a closer look at the Amazon region to add to their existing Humanities topic and thought more carefully about the traditions and cultures of countries in that region. Friday arrived and technology provided us the opportunity to come together for a whole phase quiz and assembly, celebrating the range of good work and testing everyone’s knowledge on flags and capitals. It was a close fought contest but class 6A were the eventual winners.

There were some superb examples of national costume on display which really set the mood for everyone. The staff and students at ISM are in a wonderful position to celebrate the diversity of the students, the teachers and the curriculum.

An Enlish curriculum with an international flavour, appreciated by a diverse audience and delivered by a wide ranging staff. International Week certainly was a tremendous opportunity for us all to do just that!
