Science Fair

The first ever Lower Primary Science Fair flooded the Lower Campus hall earlier this month. The event saw bright colours, great big smiles and a large number of intrigued parents taking in information from all around them.

Of course, the reason for all this attention was the outstanding work of our students, applying the scientific method to carry out real experiments and explore the world around them.

Children from Years 1 to 4 produced an excellent assortment of well thought out projects for the event. We saw some brilliant biology, some fascinating physics and finally some careful, but cool, chemistry experiments. Students were encouraged to follow the Scientific Method as precisely as possible for their pieces of work. They carefully considered and planned the steps for carrying out an investigation, and ensured their methodology was fair and accurate.

We had a number of special guests for the event, including Secondary Science teachers and the Year 13 Science Prefects. They questioned and probed the children about their investigations and provided an enthusiastic audience. Everyone was amazed with the children’s confidence when explaining the science underpinning their investigations. 

Thank you to parents and teachers for all of the support provided to our students, which helped them create such an awesome showcase. This event has not only built upon the children’s scientific knowledge and understanding, but has created a spark of excitement and a buzz around finding out why things happen around us and how they work. The winning projects & the brand new ‘Young Scientist’ title, will be announced in the near future.
