Join our upcoming Open Days to learn about the outstanding education at ISM
As we head towards the future new solutions to evolving problems need to be found.
For STEAM Week, Upper Campus students worked collaboratively to explore different viewpoints of the future and how we might rise to any challenges.
Our Primary and Secondary School students reviewed the week.
Year 5
What do you get when you combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths? The answer is easy: STEAM.
This was the theme of our week starting on 12th January 2020. We had to reuse materials like plastic and cardboard to make the furniture for the future.
The next day, all Year 5 students went on an unforgettable trip to Ikea! There, we got to see what features good quality furniture have and how to uplevel their creativity.
Over the coming days, made some incredible pieces of furniture. On Friday, we had the best time at the exhibition, which became a highlight for us.
Year 6
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. A week of all this - combined!
The incorporation of art into what was originally STEM has allowed our projects and activities to be so much more creative.
The objective of the week was to create a futuristic, sustainable city. As a group, we took great pleasure in producing what very well could be a realistic and sustainable city of the future.
All in all, my opinion about STEAM Week is that it was a real success and a good learning experience. I believe (and I’m sure many others will agree) that we all look forward to having another fun STEAM week and project next year!
Secondary
During STEAM Week, we used every aspect of our knowledge gained from our time at ISM. This ranged from architectural imagery and constructing skills to our communication and presenting skills with our classmates.
Personally, our favourite day was Friday, due to the fact that we had the chance to observe each others’ work that we created throughout the week. In addition to this, we adored the breathtaking light show where we saw how STEAM is ever-present in our day-to-day lives.
This week was one of the most active as we all did many different things we love; creating podcasts with friends, constructing futuristic monuments, to even researching about what the year 2040 may look like.
The main thing that we learnt is that we must respect our planet and keep it safe. We all feel prepared to help make our future a better place, all thanks to our STEAM week.
