Early Years parent workshop | The Importance of Motor Development in the Early Years This session aims to help parents gain a deeper understanding of what we mean by motor skills, how children develop their gross and fine motor skills and the importance of developing these skills for other aspects of learning such as writing.  In attending this session parents will feel better equipped with the knowledge and skills to further support their child at home in this prime area of learning.

t was wonderful to welcome our Early Years parents into school on Wednesday to learn about the importance of motor development for young children.

Motor Development refers to the development of a child’s bones, muscles, and ability to move around and manipulate their environment. We learned about the developmental stages’ children progress through and how motor development is interconnected with other areas of development and learning such as self-help skills, social and emotional development, self-esteem, confidence, mark-making and writing.

Parents even had the opportunity to have a go at some of the fun activities we do in school to support children’s motor development, including Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle, Dough Disco and Funky Fingers.

We look forward to welcoming you back for our next workshop and meeting more parents in the future.
