OUR GIFT TO YOU!
Dear Parents,
Last week was one of great opportunity for our secondary students.
Beginning on Sunday, we welcomed Professor Christopher Sparshott from Northwestern University, who kick started our MK Hunting History series with a lecture on Revolutionary New York for 57 of our ambitious students. The lecture was greatly enjoyed by all and students were left with some reflective questions to keep in mind as they approach their History studies. We look forward to welcoming our next guest speaker in the forthcoming lectures of 2020.
Year 7 students and their parents were also given the opportunity to share in their success of term 1 at our Parent Teacher Consultation Evening on Monday. Attendance at these evenings continues to reach new records and shows the important collaboration in place between school and home in supporting your children.
Ending the week on a high, Key Stage Three enjoyed our first ever Winter Slumber Party on Thursday evening. With films, games, table tennis and an opportunity to socialise, students in Years 7-9 filled the sports hall with their pyjamas, sleeping bags and pillows. Many blew off some steam and relaxed with friends and some even managed to fall asleep! Our Student Council continue to work hard on ideas for future events and we hope our older students can be involved next time.
Looking ahead towards a busy end of term and upcoming assessments, Key Stage Three students learned about mental health in assembly on Monday. We discussed strategies for protecting both their physical and mental health and showed them this video which you may wish to discuss with them. Year 11 and Year 13 students are in final preparations for their mock examinations so I also encourage families to discuss this important issue, in what is a very stressful time. We wish our students the best of luck as they sit these assessments.
Finally, as ECAs have now ended, we appreciate your support in collecting your children promptly at 1.30pm. We look forward to sharing our ECA programme for term 2 in due course.
Have a pleasant week ahead,
Mrs Anderson-Rice
