Dear Parents,

The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say “I”.  They don’t think “I.” They think “we”; they think “team”  –  Peter Drucker.

Student Leadership Update

This week has been a fantastic week for our student leaders with not one, but two projects coming to fruition.

Firstly, the completion of our fantastic new climbing frame for our Year 1 - 3 students. This has been a long-running project initiated after the student leaders canvassed the primary students about ways to improve the playground. We have also approved the proposal of the installation of a climbing wall for the Year 4 – 6 students. It has been a privilege to see the amount of time and effort the student leaders, with the support of Mr McArtney, have put in to improving the school for all students.

The second major undertaking has been the student murals. Our student leaders began collaborating on the house murals on Wednesday afternoon. They are replicating the winning designs from our school-wide competition to further enhance team spirit across the campus. Keep your eyes on the astroturf area to see this project develop.

IPC Pre-Accreditation Visit

We are currently starting the process to recognise Compass as a Mastering International Primary Curriculum School. This commences with a pre-accreditation visit on Sunday, 6 May. As part of this visit, the assessor, Helen O’Donoghue, will meet with groups of students, teachers, support staff and parents. This meeting will be an opportunity for Helen to ask the group questions about their experience and understanding of the IPC. If you would like to be part of our parent group meeting, at 1:00 pm Sunday, 6  May,  please let me know via email (jimmy.frawley@nais.qa).

Year 2 Assembly

Students, teachers and parents were treated to a wonderful assembly led by our Year 2 students on Thursday. In this fun-filled and informative assembly, we learned about their IPC learning from the unit ‘Super Humans’, heard some catchy songs and a re-telling of the class story ‘Peace at Last’. Well done to the students and the Year 2 team for a great showcase of learning.

Have a great week!
