OUR GIFT TO YOU!
As part of Book Week, the Secondary School invited Shereen D’Souza, Editor of Time Out Doha to come and talk to Year 10 and 12 students about the world of publishing. She did not begin her career as a journalist, but studied Banking and Marketing, before realizing her love of writing. She gave the students an entertaining account of her life in Doha, reviewing restaurants, hunting for little know places of entertainment and the celebrities she has interviewed such as Paris Hilton, Gordon Ramsey and dancing the night away with Luis Fonsi of Despacito fame. She also warned students that if they wanted a profession in journalism, it’s not all good food and stars. Hard work is required, deadlines to be met, writers’ block to be overcome, but if you have the passion it is the most rewarding job.
