Juilliard Creative Classroom | Core Work for Year 9 Students

Students in Year 9 have been looking at the Blue Monk core work on the Juilliard Creative Classroom. This category focuses on improvisational music across a variety of cultural traditions. Through listening and playing musical games, students develop their ability to improvise as a mode of creative self-expression. They all learnt to play a blues bass line, 12-bar blues chord pattern and improvisation strategies. In the recording Amiel Casambros improvised by ‘repeating the same note’, Flavio Naimi ‘incorporated space and rest’ and Joseph Phillipos ‘sounded busy’.
