In their IPC unit ‘They See The World Like This’, the Year 5 students have learned about some of the art movements in history: the style of art, the most famous artists and how they were inspired to create art in this form. ‘Art is a way to express yourself,’ said Atreyu Pena.

Through emulating these various styles, the children have also learned colour theory and how to use line and shape in 2D and 3D work. ‘It is fun drawing and colouring. We are getting better at it!’ said Yusuf Khan.

Their efforts to be creative, accurate and original have been impressive and it is easy to see how much their skills have improved. Watercolour paint, ink, pencil, modelling clay and collage materials have all been used.

Their colourful and eye-catching work in Pointillism, Cubism and Surrealism now adorns the school corridor, celebrating their hard work and achievement. Siyaam said,  ‘I like art very much. I particularly liked the type of art called Cubism.’
