At Champittet, we encourage our students to build a global perspective as changemakers and leaders. Participating in Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the best ways for our students to do just that.
We are proud to share that eight student delegates from Collège Champittet attended the MUN Conference in Madrid from January 21st to 23rd. Held at the International College Spain (ICS), a fellow Nord Anglia Education school, this year’s MUN Conference was dedicated to the topic of “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion”.
Our participants had the privilege of learning from influential guest speakers and leaders such as H.E. María Fernanda Espinosa, Former President of the UN General Assembly; Natalia Bayona, Executive Director of UN Tourism; and Max Trejo, Secretary General of the International Youth Organization for Ibero-America (OIJ).
Of course, in addition to listening as audience members, our students played an active role as speakers and debaters! A key component of MUN is its emphasis on interaction. Participants engage in constructive dialogue with fellow delegates from international schools across Europe, making this a true blending of global viewpoints. Students must propose their solutions to worldwide challenges as they simulate the roles of different UN bodies, such as UNESCO, the High Commissioner for Refugees, the Security Council or the Human Rights Council.
Over three action-packed days, our students explored global issues and learned more about the various functions of the United Nations. Our delegates also took some time to discover the Spanish capital, enjoying a cultural trip to Madrid City Hall. Overall, the MUN Conference was an inspiring, eye-opening experience – and one which our participants would highly recommend!
One of the benefits of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at Collège Champittet is that it offers a well-rounded education in diverse subjects – including the arts.
Extravaganza Day is an eagerly awaited tradition of school life at Collège Champittet. Our students enjoy the excitement of creating their own magical identities for the day, whether as firefighters, princesses, fairies, foxes, astronauts, dinosaurs, or robots.
