Interactive music concerts open new worlds for Champittet’s preschool and primary students

Interactive music concerts - Interactive music concerts
Whether through our collaboration with The Juilliard School or our Cultural Season of world-class concerts, Collège Champittet is committed to bringing the performing arts to our students. And as our youngest students have learned, it is never too early to discover the pleasures of music!

Our students in preschool and Grade 1 recently enjoyed two interactive concerts led by music education specialists ParteMus, right here at Collège Champittet. Musicians Claudia Gregoris (flute) and Jordan Gregoris (cello) treated our young learners to the captivating performances, inviting them to plunge into the world of music and participate with their voices, hands and feet.

Telling stories through music

The first concert, “Au fil des saisons”, explored the theme of nature and the changing seasons. As our students listened to different melodies and harmonies, they imagined the flora and fauna evoked by this music while enjoying a tale of friendship.

During the second concert, “La musique des émotions”, our students explored their feelings through music, connecting changing rhythms and musical textures to different emotions. Inspired by the children’s book La Couleur des Émotions, the show told the story of Archibald, an endearing monster who experiences a rainbow of emotions, including joy, sadness, serenity, anger, fear and love.

Through both concerts, our guest artists blended music with storytelling, encouraging our children to activate their listening skills, empathy and imagination. For our preschoolers and primary students, discovering new worlds through music was a magical experience!

Creating and listening to music enriches our lives in countless ways. At Collège Champittet, we have chosen to focus on this powerful art form as the theme for this school year. We look forward to continue bringing the joy of music to our students, with many more concerts and musical activities to come!
