Join our next early years Open Day
In the words of our Director Philippe de Korodi, “The transition to soft mobility is one of the school’s sustainable commitments.” We were therefore delighted to see a wonderful turnout from our community, with children and family members coming to Collège Champittet by bike, by scooter or on foot.
However, using green transportation to arrive was just the beginning! From 7:30 am onwards, we welcomed students and families with drinks and snacks in our Villa des Sciences garden, while our partner Tandem led workshops on bike maintenance, including how to inflate tires, grease chains and tighten brakes. A local specialist in electric bikes, Tandem also brought two models of e-bikes for our participants to try out on the spot. Meanwhile, balance bikes and helmets were available for our youngest children, who had a great time navigating our mini cycling tracks, complete with traffic lights and signs.
Finishing with a raffle for our cycling participants, this special event was a wonderful opportunity for our community to gather and promote sustainable mobility. By sharing our personal experiences, we all learned more from each other, including best practices and technical tips on bikes, locks, helmets and road safety. In addition, APEC will be supporting future sustainable mobility initiatives with the funds raised by our Champittet community.
Thanks to all our organisers and participants for helping us go green.
Stay tuned for the next “Bike to School” day in May!
