Autumn brings a new season of cultural trips

Cultural trips_2023

With the autumn semester comes a new calendar of cultural trips! Traditionally, the last week of September is an exciting period of learning through travel. Our primary students enjoy educational one-day outings while our secondary students spend four days exploring different parts of Switzerland and Europe. Providing cultural immersion and memorable experiences, these trips are a great complement to classroom learning. They are a fantastic way to see and learn more about the region, expecially for our international students.

Our cultural trips help students to explore key curricular subjects like history, art, science and the environment out in the real world. This semester, our students have once again enjoyed the chance to visit diverse destinations both here in Switzerland and abroad.

In Switzerland, our secondary students have discovered the bustling financial hub of Zurich, the natural wonders of the Melchtal valley, and the Italian-speaking culture of Lugano. Across Europe, students have travelled to Lyon, renowned for its French cuisine and culture; Milan, a global reference of art and design; and Lisbon, the cultural and political heart of Portugal. These trips offer a wonderful opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to different cultural aspects, including traditions, etiquette, language and cuisine.

Our secondary students have broadened their horizons through a wide range of activities during their travels. City tours, museum visits, baking workshops, handicrafts, sports and science-based excursions were just some of the activities on the itinerary.

As always, these trips are a time of connection, allowing us to strengthen our community through the sharing of new experiences. Travelling together is an unforgettable way for students to learn and grow with each other as well as their teachers. Not only do we immerse ourselves in new environments, but we bring the values of our school to life, both near and far.

We are delighted to have already begun our programme of cultural trips this season, and we wish all of our secondary students a fantastic journey for the rest of the year!
