Recently, we had the opportunity to connect with Nhat Minh, an alumna from the Class of 2023, who is currently pursuing a Specialized Business major at New York University (NYU) with a scholarship worth over $165,000 (nearly 4 billion VND). NYU is a prestigious institution ranked 33rd in the 2025 World University Rankings by The Times Higher Education.
From her early days at BVIS, Nhat Minh developed an open mindset, adaptability, and appreciation for cultural diversity – qualities that have helped her integrate seamlessly into the dynamic environment of New York City.
Nhat Minh’s passion for business was not just shaped by classroom lessons but also by real-world experiences. During her time at BVIS, she founded a plush toy startup, which fueled her strong interest in the field. "Being able to apply business knowledge in real life made me determined to pursue this field at university," Nhat Minh shared.
Thanks to the A Level program at BVIS, Nhat Minh not only adapted well to NYU’s rigorous academic environment but also mastered effective time management. Most notably, she successfully transferred 24 A Level credits, allowing her to shorten 1.5 semesters and save $62,400 in tuition fees, accelerating her academic journey at one of the top universities in the US.
"Tuition at NYU Stern for one semester is $32,200. For 1.5 semesters, it’s $48,300. I received a small scholarship from NYU, so my total cost of attendance for one semester is around $41,600. Thus, the total amount I saved through A Level for 1.5 semesters is approximately $62,400."
Nhat Minh emphasises that studying abroad is not just about choosing the right university but also about finding a lifestyle that fits "Don’t just research academic programmes—consider the environment, culture, and opportunities available at your destination. Being well-prepared will help you adjust more easily and make the most of your study abroad experience."
Besides excelling in academics, Nhat Minh is also actively engaged in community contributions. From serving as a leader in the BVIS Student Council to being part of the organising committee of the Vietnamese Student Association at NYU, she consistently strives to promote Vietnamese culture through events such as the “Tiến Lên” tournament and the night market event, helping to connect the Vietnamese student community in the U.S.
