Student Leadership Conference: Towards a Sustainable Learning Environment

Our active Primary Student Leaders have participated in the first Primary Leadership Conference, organised by the four NAE International Schools in Vietnam, from the 25th to the 27th of September 2024, with the aim of enhancing their leadership skills and broadening personal understanding.  

This special trip offers a fantastic opportunity for them to meet and interact with talented student leaders from the British International School Hanoi, British International School Ho Chi Minh City, British Vietnamese International School Hanoi , and British Vietnamese International School Ho Chi Minh. — During the event, the students will participate in a series of engaging activities, not only to exchange ideas and learn more about leadership roles but also to strengthen their sense of responsibility, teamwork, and mutual understanding. 

The workshop started with an inspiring speech from Ms. Diep from Keep Vietnam Clean. The students then engaged in practical sessions such as “Core Values” with Ms. Carroll, “Leadership Skills” with Mr. Watkins and Ms. Carmichael, and problem-solving challenges led by Mr. Davies. The morning wrapped up with an insightful leadership journey shared by Mr. Richard Vaughan, Principal of BIS Hanoi.

The afternoon's friendly sports competitions on the field brought not only joy but also opportunities to develop close new friendships. 

After an inspiring Day 1, where students learned essential leadership techniques, day 2's (27/09/2024) focus was on teamwork and problem-solving.  

Student leaders from our four leading international schools including BVIS Ho Chi Minh City British Vietnamese International School Hanoi- BVIS Hanoi - British International School - Ho Chi Minh City (Official) British International School Hanoi collaborated with their peers to create actionable plans aimed at managing and reducing waste in their schools. 

Through dynamic discussions and brainstorming sessions, each team came up with innovative strategies to tackle waste reduction, demonstrating their ability to lead with purpose and creativity. The highlight of the activity was the presentations, where each group showcased their plans to the other teams, sharing their visions for a more sustainable school environment.  

This collaborative effort not only fostered leadership growth but also encouraged students to think critically about environmental responsibility. With such passion and enthusiasm, these young leaders from our four leading Nord Anglia Education international schools in Vietnam are well on their way to making a positive impact in their schools and communities.
