The International STEM Olympiad is the world's largest competition in STEM for students from Year 1 to Year 12, featuring three subjects: Computing, Mathematics, and Science.
In its fourth year, the 2024 International STEM Olympiad attracted over 22,000 students from 117 countries and territories worldwide. The Grand Final of the competition was held in the Netherlands, with more than 600 students participating.
Phuc Thien was selected by the Vietnam Physics Association to join the Vietnamese team in the Grand Final, held from 10th to 18th July 2024 at the renowned Leiden University in The Hague, Netherlands, thanks to his remarkable achievements in the national rounds, including:
At the Grand Final, Phuc Thien continued to impress by winning the Silver Medal in Mathematics, contributing to the outstanding success of the Vietnamese team at the competition, which garnered 23 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals, and 8 Bronze medals.
The trip to the Netherlands provided Phuc Thien with the opportunity to participate in the International STEM Olympiad and gain valuable experiences. He visited several prominent scientific sites, including the Copus Science Centre, the Naturalis Biodiversity Center, and the Omniversum Science Centre. These visits allowed him to explore various scientific fields and interact with international friends, broadening his horizons and deepening his passion for science.
