Participating in the global round of the Copernicus Olympiad from July 14-18, 2024, held at Columbia University, New York City, USA, Minh Dong, a Year 5 student at BVIS, confidently competed with peers from around the world in Mathematics and brought home a bronze medal from this prestigious international competition.
The Copernicus Olympiad consists of two rounds: the national round and the global round. To earn a spot in the global round recently held in New York City, participants, including Minh Dong, had to achieve a gold, silver, or bronze medal in the previous national round.
Mr Bao, Minh Dong’s parent, proudly shared, “This is an international math competition with participants from many countries, making it highly competitive. The students took a paper-based math test with 25 questions, conducted within 1 hour and 30 minutes. The results are ranked by percentage from top to bottom. During the competition, Minh Dong also had the opportunity to meet and interact with new friends, learning more about the traditional cultures of countries around the world.
Minh Dong’s medal achievement is significant for his current and future academic journey. We believe that his passion for mathematics and the continuous encouragement from his family and school will motivate him to achieve even higher accomplishments in the future.
Congratulations, Minh Dong!
