The outstanding achievements of our Class of 2024 cohort in this year's university application season have marked a significant milestone in the 13-year history of the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) in Ho Chi Minh City.

As the largest graduating cohort since the school was founded, our 75 exemplary Year 13 students have confidently secured 125 acceptance letters from universities globally, including prestigious groups such as the Ivy League, Russell Group, and Group of Eight. Notably, the total value of scholarships awarded to the Class of 2024 exceeds a staggering 3 million USD, equivalent to 76.5 billion VND!

These impressive figures reflect the students' immense determination, the dedicated support from the teaching staff, and BVIS's unwavering commitment to delivering a high-quality international education.

"The enthusiasm and passion of the teachers made even the most difficult concepts approachable for me. My achievements would not have been possible without the meticulous support of the teachers in helping me perfect my recommendation letters and personal essays," shared Quynh Lam (Apple), who was accepted into 8 US universities with a total scholarship value of 23.5 billion VND.

This year's list of acceptance letters includes prestigious universities from various countries, such as the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, the University of California-Irvine, Imperial College London, King's College London, and the University of Toronto. Additionally, our Class of 2024 has demonstrated confidence in choosing highly diverse university majors, ranging across fields such as medicine, law, education and training, and communications. Our statistics show that the top 5 majors chosen by the Class of 2024 are Business (18%), Engineering (12%), Economics/Finance (10%), Fine Arts and Design (6%), and Psychology (5%).

Regularly organising guidance sessions, seminars, and university fairs with the participation of admissions officers from prestigious universities at home and abroad which allowed families to proactively access useful information and get their questions answered, Ms. Dung, University and College Counsellor at BVIS, shared, "The updates on trends and policies for international students, as well as the current admission processes from universities, have been being carefully considered by families and Year 13 students when selecting suitable study destinations for their post-graduation plans."

"Similar to previous years, the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia continue to be the most preferred and popular destinations for BVIS students," Ms. Dung added.

Amid the increasing number of students worldwide applying to top universities, which heightens the competition, BVIS strives to provide the best learning experiences and opportunities, helping students build outstanding personal profiles with strong academic foundations and diverse projects. Confident in their knowledge, understanding, and skills and receiving significant encouragement and support from their teachers, our BVIS students have actively sought and secured generous international scholarships, achieving a record value in scholarships this year.

We are proud that this academic year, 1 in 2 BVIS graduates have been accepted into the top 50 universities worldwide. According to Mr. Simon Higham, Principal of BVIS, a key factor contributing to the remarkable success of the Class of 2024 is the International A-Level programme, which offers a diverse range of subjects and flexible choices, enabling students to freely pursue their strengths, interests, and academic passions.

With 18 individual subjects offered in the programme, if students choose four A-level subjects, they have over 1,500 possible combinations to consider and select. This exceptional strength of the programme allows students to freely nurture and develop their abilities, thereby enhancing their chances of being accepted into their desired majors at top universities.

Moreover, universities highly value students' participation in various extracurricular activities, research projects, and community activities. Our students have been making the most of the opportunities in the rich, experiential learning programme to enhance their application profiles. School clubs and teams not only help students further develop their own positive wellbeing but also enable them to connect, support each other, and develop leadership, teamwork, and social skills. Furthermore, BVIS's learning activities extend beyond the classroom to extracurricular activities and community projects on a regional and international scale, such as STEAM Week in Boston, USA, the FOBISIA Student Conference in Southeast Asia, and the Nord Anglia Education-UNICEF Summit in Houston, USA.

Phuong Nghi (Nancy), Student Council President 2023-2024, who was accepted into 9 American universities, including the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) one of the prestigious Ivy League universities with a total scholarship value of over 13.5 billion VND, described the learning environment at BVIS with three words: "dynamic," "vibrant," and "open-minded."

"BVIS has provided me with numerous opportunities to explore and discover my passions. Thanks to BVIS's global network with Nord Anglia Education, I have connected with friends from many countries worldwide, thereby expanding my knowledge and developing essential skills for success in university in a constantly changing world. Furthermore, I believe that my eagerness to learn was nurtured at BVIS through diverse learning opportunities that awakened my personal potential and brought me to where I am today," Nancy added.
