The Year 6 Eco-project is a cross-curricular project that is an annual event at the end of Year 6, where the students spend several weeks creating a plan for an eco-friendly facility. This year, all Year 6 students have been challenged to create a plan for an eco-school somewhere in Vietnam.
The project concludes with each student delivering a sales presentation to persuade the discerning panel, consisting of teachers, high school students, and BVIS staff, to invest $1,000,000 in building their own school.
The quality of this year's presentations by our Year 6’s students has been highly impressive, as they demonstrated logical thinking, creativity, and professionalism in each stage of the project, from sketching diagrams and estimating costs to investing in interior design and website development, as well as conveying messages in their advertising campaigns. The "green" factor was also carefully considered by the students in every aspect of the school, such as the choice of location, eco-friendly materials for the classrooms, and a curriculum that emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation.
"My school is situated within a forest in Da Lat. I chose this location because of the cool weather, eliminating the need for air conditioning."
"The students will learn how to classify waste and ensure that the school reuses everything instead of disposing of it."
The panel of judges was particularly amazed at how proficiently the students used Canva to design websites for their school, creating engaging interfaces and optimized user experiences.
The details of the winning projects in this year's Eco-Project will be shared at the upcoming Year 6 Celebration event on June 20, 2023!
