Secondary Weekly Updates (9/1 - 13/1)

Welcome to BVIS Secondary Update

This weekend the Year 11 students are off to Mai Chau in order to complete their assessed adventurous journey for the International Duke of Edinburgh Award. The students are all very excited and hope it will be a successful weekend away with their friends. The students will roughly be walking about 25km over the course of two days and be self sufficient for the entire two days.

Our Service-learning team have been busy planning and creating our application for Nord Anglia’s Social Impact Grant. They have created a fantastic video to support our grant and we look forward to sharing it with our school community soon.

In year 7, students have been learning about the Battle of Hastings. They have been divided into different sides of the battle and have had to plan the best strategy to win the battle. The students have been working hard on their evaluation skills through this.

We will be launching a ‘screen time’ challenge for all students over TET in an attempt to reduce the time they spend on their phones and to encourage quality family time. When they return to school, they can voluntarily show their screen time usage to their form tutor, and the 3 lowest in each form will receive 10 house points. Please see slide below:

Year 9 students should also be initiating conversations with their families

This TET in order to identify the values their family feel are most important.

We have Tet Assembly on Friday 13/1/2023 when students understand more about the Tet values and traditions.

Additionally, the KS4 Basketball teams will be playing games at UNIS this Saturday morning.

TET Holiday Notice

Please be informed students will be off for Tet Holiday from Wednesday 18/12/2022 to 31/01/2023. They will come back to school on 01/02/2023.
