Federation of British international Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Visit to BVIS Hanoi

This week has seen the completion of the FOBISIA visit to our school.

Dr John Moore the Headmaster of the British International School, Kathmandu, Nepal and Mick Farley, Headmaster of Harrow, Bangkok, observed our school.  In preparation for the visit, I had to write two reports stating what we did as a school, providing documentation, policies, paperwork – all of which was used to assess whether we were doing what we say we are doing.  At every turn, the question on the visitors’ lips was is this contributing to better outcomes for students.  The practices they saw in the school, from Early Years through to Year 12, the financials, the policies and practice all supported their view that indeed we are, and that for such a young school, only three years old, we are in remarkably good shape and a very strong position.

I am very grateful to John and Mick for their candour, scrutiny and advice – all designed to enhance our school for the sake of the students and those who work here on the children’s behalf.  It was a pleasure having them.  We also are looking forward very much to being part of the FOBISIA network of British curriculum schools in Asia.  We have much to offer and much to gain from this association.

I end by paying my respects and grateful thanks to the teaching staff who gave up time to meet and chat through every aspect of our school and to the selected group of parents who were given the forum to talk openly and honestly about their experience of being part of our school, and the experiences of their children here.  In all aspects, it has been a very worthwhile and important step for us.  And now we carry on the great work of outstanding teaching and learning, excellent pastoral care and a rich curriculum offering.
