It is increasing in popularity and the children are starting to discover that if they have a go at something, then they can learn quickly, and actually enjoy showing off their talents. We know we have some secret talent and we encourage everyone to have a go and show off what they are learning. It is not important at what level or stage the children are currently studying, it is about enjoying performance and improving their skills with an instrument. We were all completely surprised last week when Rae Won (Leo), a Year 6 boy, asked to play. He chose to play ‘Cisco’s Post’ on the piano: the whole audience reaction, WOW! So please, if your child is learning an instrument, get them to tell their teacher, me or Ms Susan Pogson, our music teacher, and then we can enjoy even more memorable musical moments.
On Tuesday morning, undeterred by the weather, all of the children in early years participated in their very own sports day event. The sports hall was full of parents and the children loved having this support to cheer them on and enjoy their triumphs and successes. It truly was a ‘Mini-Olympics’. Well done to all the children and staff and thank you for all the support at this event.
In the afternoon of Tuesday it was the turn of Key Stage Two, Years 3 to 6, to enjoy their House swimming gala and House football tournament. The overall winners of the swimming were Saigon and Hue were champions of the football competition. Mr Perry was impressed by the sportsmanship on show and how this linked to making teams even better. Teams with great spirit and energy can win many things, even if they are not the most skilled in the area they are competing. Thanks to Ms Alicia for organising the event and all the staff involved, including our operations department who provided extra buses to get everyone back to the secondary building in the heavy rain.
