This half term, forty students in Year 6 and 7 have chosen to get involved in a 500-word story competition.

The aim of the competition is to support and improve children’s literacy and further their reading and writing skills. It also allows the students to work with their peers to fuel their own creativity and imagination. The stories can be on any topic and in any genre and can be written in the language of their choice. Each story will be judged by a panel of judges, both Vietnamese and expat, in order to select the best young writers. The finished stories will be available on the competition blog, and those of the finalists will be published in a commemorative booklet.

Over the next few weeks, students will attend a variety of workshops designed to promote reading and writing skills. To further support our students, resources will also be published on the 500 Word Story blog bvis500words.blogspot.com.
