This year’s Sports Day at The British School Yangon (BSY) was a spectacular two-day event that celebrated the joy of sports and the spirit of competition across all age groups. From EYFS to Year 13, the entire school community came together to participate in an incredible showcase of talent, determination, and unity.
Highlights of the Event
Sports Day 2024 was packed with thrilling activities, including sprints, endurance events, sack races, egg and spoon races, relay races, and the most exciting of them all—the water relay. Students, teachers, and parents alike brought their energy and enthusiasm to every event, creating an electric atmosphere that will be remembered for years to come.
The fun wasn’t limited to students—parents joined in the excitement, participating in sprints and sack races, much to the delight of the crowd. Their involvement added an extra layer of joy and camaraderie to the festivities.
House Standings: A Nail-Biting Contest
The competition between the four houses—Perseus, Phoenix, Pegasus, and Polaris—was fierce, with each house giving their all to emerge victorious. The final standings reflected their hard-fought efforts:

Phoenix stole the show with their enthusiasm and creativity, winning the coveted Best House Chant Award ahead of Polaris, Pegasus, and Perseus while every house displayed admirable sportsmanship and tenacity.
A Collective Effort
One of the most inspiring aspects of this year’s Sports Day was the collaboration and support across year groups. Secondary students not only cheered on their primary counterparts but also actively helped organise the events. A special shoutout goes to the Year 13 students, who dedicated two days to ensuring the smooth running of the event. Their leadership and hard work exemplify the BSY spirit.
