EYFS
Our EYFS sports themed “Fun Day” was filled with many excited and happy faces as they all entered the gym with their colourful house shirts on! We had 10 stations set up which included agility, balance, coordination, throwing, jumping, and running events and even a fancy dress event! The students made their way around all the different stations. It was great to see them consolidate their learning. The students had practiced similar activities during their PE lessons and were now able to show off their newly learned skills to their parents and loved ones. It was great to see over 80 parents attend our EYFS Fun Day and we look forward to growing the event even further next year. Well done to all the students and parents who got involved!!
KS1
KS1 had an exciting morning full of laughs, high heart rates, and red faces. The BSY field was buzzing with excitement as the kids made their way to their stations. The house t-shirts flooded the field with colour and the music could be heard from miles away. There were 10 activities for the kids to participate in. These activities included climbing through an obstacle course, agility relays, balancing and coordination challenges, and a super popular wet sponge relay! It was great watching the kids make their way around the different challenges throughout the morning. The students had practiced elements of each activity previously in PE lessons and it was fantastic being able to watch the students consolidate their hard efforts and show off their skills to their parents. A special thank you to our Year 6 cohort for supporting the students throughout the morning! We look forward to making our fun filled sports day even bigger and better next year!
KS2
What an incredible day Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 had during the KS2 Sports Day 2020. The energy was exhilarating, as was the fabulous cheers from the parents and teachers alike. The competition incorporated many fun activities, but the highlight would have to be the sponge relay and the 60m Sprints. A special thank you to the House Leaders who stepped up and ran ten activities for the PE Department. The winners for Year 3+4 were the Normans and the winners for Year 5+6 were the Vikings. The PE Department are looking forward to planning Sports Day 2021!
KS 3/4
Key Stage 3/4 had a slightly different take on Sports Day this year having listened to and responded to student feedback. Students took part in basketball and volleyball matches all afternoon against the 3 other houses playing in combined year groups of Year 7/8 and Year 9/10/11. It saw some great challenges and with every point scored going towards the final scores it was all to play for. Normans were quietly confident having won the volleyball convincingly and were confident going on to the final events of a 60m sprint between and a shuttle relay on the field between the four houses. However, what Normans didn't realise is that by putting their strongest players on the volleyball team, it hindered their basketball teams which gave the other houses a chance to catch up. And catch up they did, with Vikings storming the finals and winning the event overall! I’m sure Romans will get it back next year though…
