JOINING OUR SAFE AND HAPPY COMMUNITY

The British School Yangon (BSY) is a warm, welcoming, and joyous learning community, which is open to children aged from 2 to 18. We accept applications all year round and new students can start at any time.

Your BSY journey starts with our admissions team, who will guide you through our entry requirements and enrolment process. They can also arrange an in-person tour of our campuses – which is the best way to get feel for the education we offer – or schedule a one-to-one virtual meeting.

APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS

To enrol at The British School Yangon, you’ll need to meet a few admissions requirements. First, you’ll need to complete our online application form and send us some supporting documents.
Please submit:
  • A signed copy of our Declaration Form.
  • Copies of your child’s most recent school report.
  • A current teacher recommendation (we’ll send you a form to pass on.
  • Our application fee.

AGE-APPROPRIATE ASSESSMENTS

Once we’ve received your application, we’ll arrange for your child to sit an assessment. This will give us a better understanding of their abilities and ensure we’re able to meet their needs.

EYFS classroom assessment
Our classroom assessment for EYFS students lasts about 30 minutes. An EYFS teacher will speak to your child, observe how they interact with their peers, and determine if they’re ready to learn at our school.

CAT4 secondary school test
Students applying to our secondary school will complete a CAT4 (cognitive ability test) on the computer. They’ll also sit a short reading and writing assessment. We’ll arrange an informal interview with an academic staff member in Yangon, too.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)
If your child has Special Educational Needs, please inform the admissions team as soon as possible. Their needs will be discussed with a teacher and relevant senior leader. Once your child is accepted, our teachers and teaching assistants will work together to support your child in the best way possible.

ENROLING YOUR CHILD AT BSY

OFFERING YOU A PLACE

Once we’ve reviewed your child's assessment and offered them a place, you’ll need to formally accept. You can do this by agreeing to our latest terms and conditions, and by paying our non-refundable enrolment fee of $3,500. You’ll also need to pay a refundable early notice withdrawal deposit of $1,500.
