Being part of HMUN Dubai’s first conference was definitely a new and inspiring experience. We have gotten a taste of MUN in a completely different format whilst being in the biggest committees BST has ever participated in, ranging from 50 to 100 delegates in one zoom conference!
In the few conferences I have attended, I would say that this was the most memorable one as each director tried to make a ravishing connection with their Assistant Directors and even more with their delegates; some examples being costume day for the last day of conference at the CND committee and experiencing the many talents in music of the director in the UNEP committee!
To top that, HMUN Dubai has also given everyone the opportunity to attend a variety of panels, hearing from: the admission officers of top universities in the USA; UNILEVER’s Executive Vice President giving a speech about ‘The Triple Bottom Line’; and even getting a personal webinar from the directors themselves, answering all questions delegates may have when applying to top-tier schools like Harvard with their own personal stories included.
There was also an alternative to the social event you usually have during the long conference days of MUN which worked just as well! Participants got to choose breakout rooms they wanted to attend which were greeted with directors of different committees. Some played games, confessed embarrassing stories, or just got to know each other on a better note without any formalities.
A huge thanks to Mr David for giving us opportunities like these to truly feel the delightful wonders of MUN, the MUN team who has showcased their talents once again, the new additions to our team - who were able to experience the rough but wonderful side of fruitable debate for the first time, and to the HMUN team who were able to conduct the eye-opening sessions even online.
It was definitely an extraordinary experience that I hope to attend next year with more BST students in real life!
