On Friday 23rd April, 13 of our students were treated to a visit to Nanjing's latest English language bookstore, Tales on Moon Lane. The trip had been organised by Ms Zhang, our librarian, supported by Ms Clear, as a reward for the students' work - all 13 invitees were Gold or Silver Level Librarians who'd shown the greatest commitment to our library. On arrival, owner Jessy gave her visitors a warm welcome and a thorough introduction to the lakeside store, before the students got stuck into their tasks! Each had been asked to find and select 2 books to purchase for our library based on the Key Words they had been given, reflecting topics from the curriculum.
Once they'd made their choices, students were able to enjoy some quiet reading time in many of the comfortable corners that make Tales on Moon Lane a perfect spot for book lovers. The final part of the evening was an exclusive Live Chat session with published author and founder, Tamara MacFarlane, who shared her writing journey, introduced the audience to her illustrator, and answered our students' questions. Already avid readers, our select 13 were collected by their parents and went off into the evening with heads full of ideas and inspiration! A Thank you to Jessy and Tamara of Tales on Moon Lane, Ms Celine and Ms Clear for organising; and all our student librarians for their dedication!
