At the British School of Nanjing we are lucky to be involved in a spectacular collaboration with the world-famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) based in Boston, USA.
Each year, the MIT team creates three challenges that bring active MIT research into Nord Anglia classrooms to inspire our students through the same Mens et Manus (mind and hand) ethos that guides MIT faculty and students. These challenges are hands-on, project based, interdisciplinary and student driven. The rich challenge resources include the tools and contacts to ensure success.
We are very excited to present this year's 3 new challenges called "Into The Void". These challenges are based on some of the research happening on MIT's campus right now which is contributing to the future of space exploration and the possibility of humans living in space, on the Moon, and on Mars. Through the 3 new challenges students will meet three MIT experts who want our ideas about bringing humanity, health and happiness to space exploration, making oxygen on Mars, and using technology in space for justice and equity on Earth.
In addition to the challenges we also offer students a unique chance to take a behind- the- scenes look at the exciting work being done at MIT. To aid this we’re eager to share with you through our new MIT Abstracts webinars. These webinars give students the chance to discuss their ideas directly with past and present MIT students and staff.
The next MIT abstract is with Jordan Harrod, a Ph.D. student in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program, conducts neuroscience and machine learning research. Outside of her studies, Jordan produces everydAI, a popular YouTube channel detailing artificial intelligence.
