This month has seen continued progress from our students in PE lessons. Key Stage 1 have been continuing with their fundamental movements unit, Key Stage 2 have been making the most of the fine autumnal weather outside honing their football skills and Key Stage 3 and 4 have been getting lots of match practise in in both football and basketball, with an emphasis on tactics and positional awareness.
It is all systems go for our Foxes this month – which has been tremendously exciting and busy. On Saturday 12th October our U11 Footballers travelled to Suzhou for the annual Dulwich Suzhou invitational which saw 47 teams from across North-East Asia participate in a fun-filled and action-packed day of football. This was an invaluable opportunity for match practise ahead of the Nord Anglia Global Games U11 Football tournament that we will be hosting later this week. Since the tournament we have been back on the training ground trying to put some of the lessons we learned in Suzhou to practise.
On the same day we entered our first ever SISAC tournament in Shanghai, eight of our Year 10-13 girls travelled to Shanghai for the SISAC Volleyball tournament at Shanghai Singapore International School. Our girls put in a great effort in an enjoyable day of volleyball that brought the SISAC Volleyball season to a close. Next up, the SISAC Basketball season is now upon us and will see our Year 10-13 boys and girls teams travel to Suzhou in January. We have also scheduled a couple of pre-tournament friendly warm-up games with NIS to aid their learning and preparation.
The following weekend (19th-20th October) saw our Foxes swimmers in action for their opening Shanghai Swim League meet of the year at Shanghai Community International School. 23 of our swim team travelled for the event with Mr Kamitsuka and Ms Liu and we were delighted with the results, which showed some promising times with nearly everybody setting personal best times and school records falling across a range of event and age groups. We are now in the midst of a steady uninterrupted eight-week training block before SSL Round 2 at NIS where we expect to see an even bigger turnout from our Foxes swimmers and hope to see many more records falling. Keep up the hard work, swim Foxes!
On the afternoon of Monday 21st October our Year 6-10 Foxes footballers competed against Nanjing International School in the first of two pre-CISSA football friendly matches. Our year 6-7s travelled to NIS and our Year 8-10s played at BSN. Matches were as always played in a friendly competitive spirit by both schools and we look forward to the return fixtures on Monday
Last weekend saw our Fox Cubs travel for their first ever swim meet at Suzhou Singapore International School. Seventeen of our Year 2, 3 and 4 students travelled in a fun-filled morning of events designed to encourage and inspire first and foremost a love of swimming and a sense of team among our students. Our Fox Cubs made us very proud with their team spirit and effort and returned to Nanjing, many with their voices lost after so much shouting and cheering for their team-mates. We look forward to Round 2 of the SSL development group at BSN on Saturday February 29th.
This Thursday, October 31st sees BSN hosting the Nord Anglia Global Games China U11 Football event for the first time. 176 students and 18 teams from 9 schools across the Nord Anglia China region will compete to be crowned Global Games Football champions. We have four teams entered in total and encourage our BSN community to come support, get behind our Foxes and make some noise for them as we hope to give them a home advantage.
Finally, next week 43 of our Foxes from Years 7-10 will travel to Beijing for the U13 and U15 Global Games Football competitions. Good luck to all our Foxes over the coming days and thank you to all parents and coaches for your continued efforts and support!
