Students at the British School of Nanjing are celebrating this week after receiving their long-awaited IGCSE results Our students’ incredible achievements have created an amazing atmosphere all across our school as we celebrate their successes.
Mr Shephard said, "“I am incredibly proud of our students as we look at the successes achieved in our IGCSE results. There are some standout individual scores, but the sheer number of students celebrating top grades – whether A* or Grade 9 – is fantastic. We are most proud, however, of the ambition shown by our teachers, our students and their parents, reflected in the number of students taking their exams in earlier year groups and gaining top grades. With 72% of those grades being equivalent to A or A*, it really was testament to the personalised approach to learning at BSN. Alongside our students’ hard work and commitment, our teachers and staff have played a vital role in igniting a passion and helping our students excel.”
Marina, our new Head Girl and now in Year 12, was particularly thrilled with her result in Business Studies, where she gained a top 9-grade (alongside equally impressive A* grades in Physics, Maths, Art and English). Marina said: “A few years ago, I was torn between studying Law or Business at university, but after these results, my ambition is to study Economics in the UK. My Business Studies teachers, both Mrs Aston and Mr Graham, have been a really, really big part of this”
Ella Kwon and Kadri Aston were amongst those who took their IGCSEs earlier than most, with Ella taking Chinese in Year 9 and Kadri completing her English in Year 10. Both achieved top A* grades and said, although they were nervous entering the exam, they felt well prepared. Kadri said: “I’ve always had a love for writing and telling stories, but Mrs Whiles is an amazing teacher and she brought out a real spark in me.” Ella’s inspiration was a little closer to home as she credited her mother for her drive – alongside her inspirational teachers. Having just begun the remainder of her IGCSE courses, she is keeping her options open but has set her sights on University in the UK.
