David Healey

Assistant Head of Primary, Year 2 Teacher
David-Healey

David is a highly dedicated and ambitious teacher and leader with over a decade of experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Having developed a love of international education working as a Teaching Assistant at the British School of Beijing in 2006, David obtained a degree in English Literature and Philosophy at the University of East Anglia before completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the same university in 2012. Before joining BSG in 2016, David worked at the British College of Brazil in São Paolo, again teaching across multiple year groups.

As well as his dedication to teaching the children in his classes, David has also effectively led key curriculum subjects, year group teams as well professional development for academic staff, something David believes is at the heart of improving outcomes for all children. For David, teaching and learning is about developing children’s natural inquisitiveness and desire to learn. By allowing children to explore all aspects of learning in a context that brings deeper meaning to the skills being taught, he aims to create critical, forward-thinking, and passionate learners. Teaching brings David much joy and he is a firm believer that learning should be both rigorous and fun, developing classrooms full of hard work and laughter.

A big fan of musical theatre, David loves the joy it can bring to children and school communities. He has directed many school productions involving children from Early Years to Secondary, helping children bring amazing stories to life on stage. A lover of exploring different countries and their cultures, David has travelled broadly throughout Europe, South America and Asia and is currently looking to develop his Mandarin skills which he finds both challenging and fun.
