BSG Guangzhou Scholarships 2024/25
Last Sunday, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the BSG Early Years and Year 1 community celebrated the season with a Christmas event that delighted over 400 guests, including children, parents and our amazing school staff. The festive atmosphere was all around, with the venue adorned with snowflakes and Santa's sleigh parked nearby, laden with gifts for the little ones.
The celebration kicked off with our adorable toddlers taking the stage, singing and dancing to the festive tunes of "Jingle Bells." Following suit, the children from the Olympic Park Campus delighted the audience with heartwarming renditions of "Little Snowflakes" and "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree." There followed each Early Years and Year 1 class, showcasing not only their impressive vocal talents but also their confidence and English skills, to the delight of the proud parents in the considerable audience.
As the final notes of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" echoed, the festivities continued in the foyer, where a variety of carefully prepared games from our teachers and teaching assistants kept the children engaged in festive fun. From decorating Christmas cookies to crafting jingle bells bracelets and cards, and indulging in candy cane bowling, there was plenty to excite our youngest students while parents looked on.
Santa's Grotto was a special highlight, as children and their families got to meet our annual visitor all the way from the North Pole. Dear Santa and his helpers spread cheer and had a special gift for each visitor, acknowledging the good behavior of each child throughout the year.
During a tasty buffet Christmas brunch by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel team, six students from Early Years and Year 1 captivated the audience with a ballet performance set to the enchanting "Waltz of Flowers." The pride in their accomplishments was evident, as parents and grandparents alike watched with admiration.
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated EY and Y1 staff at both campuses. Their passion and commitment shines through, ensuring that each day in the lives of the students is filled with meaningful learning experiences. This event not only celebrated Christmas, but also showcased the incredible talent and love of learning that defines the BSG community.
BSG held a successful International Day charity event on Saturday, thanks to the hard work and dedication of supporters from across our whole school community. The event featured country stalls from Poland, China, Great Britain, Korea, China Taiwan, Ukraine, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Kuwait, and Malaysia, making it a truly diverse and inclusive affair.
Staff, parents and students have been helping with projects over the Christmas holiday and bringing joy to others.
During the week leading up to the festival, Chinese department teachers skillfully linked out curriculum and learning objectives with traditional activities, focusing on language development through many activities.
