BSG Guangzhou Scholarships 2024/25
The last week of October saw the Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 students from BSG head away for an exciting range of Residential Camps with our partners ‘The Hutong’. Residential camps are such an important part of our school programme and include powerful links to the learning we have been doing at school prior to the trips as well as enhancing learning that takes place upon return. Our teachers have worked with our camp partners to ensure our students deepen their understanding of the cultures, creatures, history, and geographical features of our camp locations and our region.
Year 3 students embarked on a two-day, one-night adventure to the beautiful ZengCheng area, east of Guangzhou.
Year 4 students extended their adventure with three days and two nights in the western Guangdong area of KaiPing.
Year 5 students headed south to HuiDong, spending four days and three nights around Twin Moon Bay.
Our Year 6 students had five days and four nights away in beautiful Yangshuo.
Our residentials programme builds gradually over students’ time here at BSG with us, both in the time spent away from home, but also in the demands and adventures students engage in while away with their peers. All of our residential programmes have certain similar themes which are very important to us here; namely
· Sustainability and environmental impact
· Service to environment and to the others
· Local culture & traditions
· Local history
· Adventure, risk-taking
· Physical endeavour & grit
· Teamwork & collaboration
· Supporting one-another
· Gratitude
In addition to these themes, our BSG values Respect, Integrity, Commitment, and A Love of Learning were seamlessly woven into our camp experiences, aligning with the values of our partners ‘The Hutong' values; Seek Challenge, Be a Good Egg, Igniting Sparks, Going the Extra 里 , Embrace Diversity and Smile More.
We were very proud of our students, who were shining examples of all of these values. They learned so much, grew in their maturity and independence and had a great time while doing it.
Our amazing team of teachers and teaching assistants in conjunction with The Hutong staff, did an exceptional job at caring for our students, extending them and supporting them to explore new horizons, and nurturing that all-important culture of teamwork, grit and risk-taking.

BSG held a successful International Day charity event on Saturday, thanks to the hard work and dedication of supporters from across our whole school community. The event featured country stalls from Poland, China, Great Britain, Korea, China Taiwan, Ukraine, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Kuwait, and Malaysia, making it a truly diverse and inclusive affair.
Staff, parents and students have been helping with projects over the Christmas holiday and bringing joy to others.
During the week leading up to the festival, Chinese department teachers skillfully linked out curriculum and learning objectives with traditional activities, focusing on language development through many activities.
