Recently, the siblings sat down to create their own Blessings Bags to distribute around town. They heard that the most requested item in homeless shelters was socks, so included a pair of socks, as well as toothbrushes and toothpaste. Once assembled, they’ve stored their packets in the car for when they find an opportunity to stop and distribute as needed. With the help of their grandmother, they’ve been able to make trips around the city and pull off the road to share a packet of essentials with someone in need. The reaction they’ve received has been positive and heartwarming and made them feel very happy to use their time and resources to help others.
When their packet supply gets low, they get back to work making new packets – 24 at a time. This is their third round, and they are still going strong. What started as a school-focused project has evolved into success beyond the classroom!
