THE BIS HOUSTON HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

The British International School of Houston’s High School Diploma offers students choice and flexibility, enabling them to focus on their strengths. Working towards a combination of Honours-level courses (including IGCSEs in Years 10 and 11, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or IB Career-related Programme in Years 12 and 13) and electives, our learners achieve recognised qualifications and earn college credits.

The BIS Houston High School Diploma offers a truly personalised education, enabling students to create a tailored programme that aligns with their talents and ambitions.

Our learners work toward globally respected IGCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) qualifications, and earn graduation credits in a series of electives, including English, science, math, humanities, foreign languages, and arts and design. In Years 12 and 13, our High School Diploma students also complete core elements of the IB Diploma.

BIS HOUSTON HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS

As students progress into Year 12 and 13, they follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. As part of our accredited High School Diploma route, learners choose six options from the IB subject groups. These are taken at either a standard or higher level.

Students also complete the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) element of the core IB programme and choose seven elective courses.

To graduate with a BIS Houston High School Diploma, our young people need to achieve:

Four credits in English.
Three credits in science.
Three credits in math.
Three credits in humanities.
Two credits in foreign languages.
Two credits in art and design.
Seven credits in electives.

We’ll pause midday to enjoy our lunch – choosing from a selection of diverse cuisine in the Boma or from a smoothie and snack in the coffee shop. Unwinding, we can catch up with friends, play sports, or tinker with our own robotics, as we leisurely explore what makes us happy.

We give back to our communities, whether it’s by organising blood drives, hosting the Head of UNICEF USA, or fundraising for our international trip to Tanzania.
