A wonderful week where we had the opportunity to come together, safely, to celebrate Teachers Day followed by brilliant Enrichment Day on Wednesday and rounded off with a spectacular Sing along this afternoon.
We talk a lot about the BIS community and the wonderful partnership between home and school. This means for many, PTSCs, chats at the classroom door and email and seesaw messages. At BIS, we are so privileged to have a parent community that takes it further and Monday’s Teacher Lunch extravaganza was a perfect example of this. It is fair to say that as a faculty, we were truly spoiled by all of you, the parents. Our sincere thanks to the PTG and all involved in making this event happen. It was the first time we had come together in person, as a staff, due to Covid and what better way to do it than with scrumptious food and a beautiful video presentation from the students. Thank you to all involved in making this event happen.
Following on from Teacher's Day, Wednesday brought Enrichment Day, or as the children were calling it - Penguin Day! With a target to make as many penguins as possible, building on the story of 365 Penguins, the children at BIS certainly rose to the challenge! 365 penguins later, the target had been well and truly smashed!
From cakes, to minecraft, cookies to painting, origami to sculptures, every method and item was tried and tested! We hope that you as families, also enjoyed the day, away from screens for a short while and allowing the children to have some creative fun! Well done to all involved, particularly our Maths, English and Science Leaders who led the day along with Ms Maria and Mr Neil.
We are delighted to announce that Sing Song Part 1 will be streamed this afternoon, Friday, November 26th at 3pm. We have had such a wonderful response with so many fantastic performances we have had to split this event into different parts. This week be prepared to enjoy performances from Year 1 to Year 6, a very popular hit song with a whole family dressed as pirates, a classic Disney song by a teacher and a dog, alongside an original song composed for this event!
Sit back, relax, sing a-long and enjoy just over 30 minutes of wonderful music from our students and their families across both campuses.
Performers this afternoon are SeoHyun & JeongHyun Park, Erica Ng, The Dormor Family (George / Florence), Kyubo & Kyumin, Kathy and Heily Nguyen, Sungbeen, Nuala Wardell, JiWoo Kim, TaeYeon Kim, Anna and Alex Rudin, You En & You Na, Thea Wills, JiHu Kim, Lily 4C, Christina 4C, Alice 4N, Natalie 4N and Yoon Seul 4N.
Enjoy the show and sing-a-long!

This Tuesday, November 30th, we will host a webinar for our Year 1 to Year 6 parents about preparing for a return to school for our students. Taking place on Tuesday 30th November at 9am, the session will have our Counselling and Support team as well as the leadership team and Year leaders in attendance. We look forward to a great turn out of parents.

Topic: Supporting your children to return to school
A fantastic way to socialise with friends.
Our Primary children have been introduced to an exciting, new website platform called ‘Kumospace’. This is a video chat platform, similar to Google Meet, but the difference being the children can move themselves around the space and therefore choose who they would like to talk to, just like on the playground. Teachers will spend time with their class in Kumospace as a social tool to support well-being. It opens up more opportunities for the children to interact with friends and build new relationships in their classes.
The children have had a great start to Kumospace and the student response has been extremely positive. It has been wonderful to see them chatting more freely and building up their social skills in preparation for returning to school. As with all virtual school platforms, please support your child and monitor their usage. If you have any questions about Kumospacae, please contact your class teacher or one of the PSHE leaders: Mr Anthony at Anthony.Woolley@bisvietnam.com or Ms Helena at Helena.Tucker@bisvietnam.com.
The BritCham (formerly known as BBGV) Fun Run is back! It would be fantastic to see the BIS HCMC community join together once more in a sea of Red, White and Blue in the aim of raising awareness for important school partnered charities. Please see activity and enrollment information for next week’s event here.
This week in assembly, the children heard about the NAE Writers competition for students from Year 1 to Year 6. Ho Ho Ho Boys and Girls!
The Primary PE Department invites all students, parents and teachers to take part in the DECEMBER DASH. For the first 12 days of Christmas, we would like you ALL to get up and get active participating in daily events building a stronger, healthier and more festive community together!
All BIS students, parents and teachers from F1 – Year 6 can take part. This is an optional activity, but we would REALLY encourage you all to participate to help increase your current health and well-being.
As a PE Team, we’ve set a GOAL to achieve a combined total score of 200,000 minutes of physical activity as a community. This is the number we have chosen, as it represents the average number of lights on the big Christmas trees planted in central squares of towns and cities across the world, as done by many of our home countries.
Who can gain the most minutes of action in your class?... in your year group … in the school … in your family?
Also, there will be a page here for you to submit your photos of you in action - solo, with friends and family, or even with your pets!
So, starting from the 1st December it’s all Go Go Go Ho Ho Ho! , we look forward to sharing with you our passion for the benefits of Physical Activity, and the wondrous joy of the Christmas spirit!

We celebrated Teachers’ Day by organizing a potluck lunch for all the teachers in EY and JC campuses. A task that looked huge initially, but the parents' support made this event very successful.
A huge thank you to all the parents who participated in this event either by volunteering or by sending delicious food to be enjoyed by the school community. The volunteering team at both the campuses were busy from 9 am-11 am collecting and displaying the food. It was a treat to watch the teachers walking into the gym surprised. They were overwhelmed with the food and the love we showered on them. The expressions on the teachers while enjoying the food was priceless.
Thank you, teachers, for being so amazing, caring, positive, supportive and wonderful people. You are special to your students hence when they got an opportunity to showcase the love through video or postcards, our PTG inbox was filled with these videos.
A special thanks to PTG core team Pamela, Anchal, Jana and Thomas for giving their 100%. Pamela took on a huge responsibility of making a video montage for the teachers. She spent more than 7 hours editing the video.
I would like to thank the volunteers- EY- Eric, Petra, Hannah, Mercia, Vedra, Shruthi, Packialakshimi, Rohni, Taehyun, and Hayden. In JC- Suvidha, Naoko Herrmann, Anupam Khosla, Divya Chinnasamy, Anh Duong, Phillip West, Pham Kim Duyen, To My Lan, Ganga, and Eunyoun Son. Taehyun created 20 centerpieces at both campuses. Anupam created the design for the coffee mugs.
Thank you everyone for helping us to run this event successfully. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us on primaryptgbis@gmail.com.
