Bang... Tung... Bang...Tung...the beats of the drums mixing with the bangs of the Gong create the unique rhythm of a dragon dance, which makes everyone feel excited for the coming Moon Festival.

Moon Festival, which is called ‘Tet Trung Thu’ in Vietnamese, is one of the most significant events for Vietnamese families and it is traditionally held on the 15th of the 8th Lunar month.

On Thursday and Friday mornings, at both the Early Years and Infant and Junior Campus, hundreds of the children and staff dressed in colourful traditional ao dai and eagerly awaited the dragon dance troop. Soon, the loud drums started and the lions with huge eyes wide danced towards the crowds. The children gasped in excitement when they tried to touch the lions’ heads. With mouths open, their hearts nearly burst when the man holding the dragon climbed skilfully up to the thin, towering bamboo stick.

Our celebrations continued with the special Moon Festival assemblies, which were performed by the talented children in class 6N on the Junior campus and Year 1 and Year 2 children at the Early Years and Infant Campus. It is amazing that in such a short time and with the Teaching Assistants help, the children became professional actors, actresses and dancers on the stage.

Thank you to all the Vietnamese staff for hosting the spectacular Moon Festival celebration.
