On Thursday 4th April, four teams from the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC) travelled to the British Vietnamese International School, Ho Chi Minh City (BVIS HCMC) to participate in the final of this year’s Saigon Enterprise Challenge competition.
Aroma, Evexia, Elysian Vietnam and Sepia were competing against eight other teams from BVIS, the European International School (EIS) and ABC International School and each were required to set up a stall to showcase their product. The teams then had to present to a panel of three judges for 5 minutes, outlining their journey from idea generation through marketing, production and eventually sales. The teams were encouraged to reflect on their personal experience and what successes they had enjoyed and challenges they had faced.
The competition was fierce and accompanying Business teachers Mr Shine, Mr Alexander, Mr Baker and Mr Porter knew the teams faced a difficult challenge to enjoy the same success as we did last year. However, the hard work and commitment the four teams had put into their products over the year shone through as the teams picked up all seven awards available on the evening, including Best Overall Team for Elysian Vietnam.
Dan Champion, Operations Director for Aroma, summed up his experience of the project: “The Saigon Enterprise Challenge is an unbelievable opportunity for young ambitious entrepreneurs to present their ideas. The overall experience learnt and feelings brought up by running a successful business is quite extraordinary.”
All four teams were an absolute credit to themselves and the school and each team member can be immensely proud of what they have achieved over the last year.
