It's the summer holidays!
Last week, the Year 4 children spent 3 days and 2 nights at the beachside town of Long Hai. The aim of the trip was to build independence, confidence, friendships and of course, have fun!
At British International School, Vietnam, we believe that building confidence and independence is a key part of our curriculum and our expeditions really enable our children to do this. A trip away from home for three days and two nights was at first a daunting experience for children (as well as parents!) but after learning about all the fun activities and relaxing we would be doing at the beach, the children were raring to go. Arriving at the beach was so exciting! There were lots of happy faces as we sunk our toes into the sand and splashed about in the shallows. After checking into our rooms, it was time for the activities to begin. Swimming, sandcastle building, a scavenger hunt and sketching were the chosen day time activities and each one was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. For evening entertainment, we had a campfire on the beach complete with some beautiful singing, a quiz, a talent show and a disco. As you can imagine, after all the excitement, the children (and adults!) slept well and enjoyed relaxing in their rooms. The teachers were so impressed with the behaviour during the expedition: the manners and conversation seen during mealtimes, the caring and friendly nature of the children towards their peers and, most importantly, how independent and mature the children became over the duration of the trip. Well done Year 4!

Every year BIS HCMC takes students from across several year groups, in Primary and Secondary to the FOBISIA Friendly Games, held near Pattaya in Thailand. This provides our young athletes with the opportunity to compete at a high level against other British International Schools across Asia in athletics, basketball, football, swimming and T-ball as well as form global friendships with their peers throughout the region.
Last month we were proud to have three student ambassadors attend this year’s NAE-UNICEF Student Summit, hosted for the first time ever in Houston, Texas from 12 to 19 June 2024. The event was hosted at Nord Anglia’s two schools in the city: The Village School and the British International School of Houston. Houston was chosen as the ideal location for the Summit thanks to being the first officially recognised “Child-Friendly City” in the United States of America.
