This week saw the U11 football team come together for the first football game of the year against AMIS.
Final score – AMIS 3 - BIS 3
This was the first match of the season for our U11 Girls A Team.
After only a few weeks of training they were thrust into a ‘friendly’ competitive match against the American International School in District 7.
The girls were a little slow and rusty in the first ten minutes, finding their feet and sticking to positions, but as they entered the middle section of the game, they became stronger and more determined to score.
A powerful run from Emma resulted in her getting fouled 15m from goal. The following free-kick saw her strike the ball over the defending wall and into the roof of the net; 1-0.
A few minutes later, a defence splitting pass from Emma picked out Xuka a few yards out of goal, who confidently smashed the ball into the top corner; 2-0.
AMIS responded positively, putting constant pressure on our defence, and after a few sloppy mistakes, they had scored three goals in reply.
This shook our team up, and with a determined few minutes left, Emma collected the ball out on the left, dribbled into the area, and dispatched a shot into the far corner; 3-3.
So, a great game for goals, and a confident start from our Girls A Team. They’ll be disappointed not to win with all the goal scoring opportunities they had in the game, but confidence is high and we’re looking forward to a fun, action-packed season ahead.
The Team: Phuong An Martin (GK), Celina Vuu (DEF), Gia Han Le Nguyen (DEF), Jamie Kim (MID), Sarah Choi (MID), Amelie Audier (MID), Emma Green (MID), Xuka Ko (ATT).

Final score – BIS 0 – AMIS 0
This week saw the Year 5 Girls football team come together for the first football game of the year against AMIS. After two fun and hard-working training sessions, the girls were eager to play a competitive game of football and display their skills.
Throughout the majority of the game BIS dominated possession. The midfield players; Daphne, Sabrina and Sophia executed some good passes to the BIS striker and right midfielder; Khanh Linh & Casi who were able to dribble and drive the ball forward, towards goal. Unfortunately, Khanh Linh and Casi were so close to scoring, however the AMIS defenders managed to either tackle them or AMIS’ keeper saved the ball.
AMIS soon stepped up their game and became stronger competitors, making it harder for BIS to regain possession of the ball. Thankfully our defence; Sabrina, Kathy, Chloe, Myra & Kyu-In held their position well and prevented AMIS from getting past them.
BIS were so strong and reactive, they were always first to the ball! Sabrina showed resilience and great skill when dribbling the ball around numerous defenders, she often managed to find either Daphne to the left of her, Casi to the right or Khanh Linh in front of her. The girls had so many opportunities to score but unfortunately luck wasn’t on BIS’ side.
During the second half of the game, one of the AMIS’ midfielders passed the ball through to their striker who was super-fast on the ball, taking it past the BIS defenders and had a shot against our goal keeper Amelia. Amelia reacted amazingly and bravely threw herself towards the ball stopping the ball immediately with her hands. What a save it was!
It was an action packed game and all the footballers played very well. A huge well done to all 12 girls.

Final score - AMIS 3 - BIS 4
In a tough game away in District 7, BIS secured victory with the final kick of the game. BIS scored early on from a corner that was wonderfully dispatched by Lewis on the volley. From then on the game took a turn for the worse for the visitors. AMIS struck three goals in quick succession. A combination of losing the ball at the back and a dubious penalty put the BIS team well out of contention. Fortunately, the boys rallied in the final half of the game and showed great determination and perseverance. 2 goals from Ethan and a cool finish from Dong Hee in the final throws of the match secured victory for the visiting side. Minhyeok made some important saves during the match ably supported by his defenders. Ethan held the midfield together well and a brace of goals highlighted his performance. Lewis and Logan looked to get forward when they could and played some nice football. Dong Hee up front looked dangerous running in behind the defense. Well done BIS!

Final score - BIS 0 - AMIS 1
This week saw the Year 5 boys football team come together and consolidate their football skills ready for a competitive game against AMIS!
BIS played very well throughout the entire game; they created many goal scoring opportunities by executing effective passes to one another and driving the ball towards the goal – unfortunately AMIS defenders and their goal keeper were too strong and managed to prevent BIS from scoring.
In the final minutes of the game, AMIS had possession of the ball, they applied pressure on our BIS defenders, passed and dribbled the ball towards the goal, took a shot and the ball deflected off the BIS defender, making the final score 1-0 to AMIS. Despite this goal being scored, all of the BIS defenders held their positions well and kept the ball out of the box for the majority of the game.
Well done to all the players that participated.
