Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) have been working with ARC as their community partner for a number of years. ARC is a charity organisation which rescues cats and dogs in need. They are based in Ho Chi Minh City and they provide medical treatment, vaccination and neutering of cats and dogs before working to rehome them. Crucially, they give love and attention to animals which have been abandoned and abused.
The aim of the partnership is to teach the F1 and F2 children about animal care and how to approach dogs and cats safely. This week, Koto from ARC came to talk to all the F1 and F2 classes about caring for pets. This included discussing what kinds of animals make good pets, what kind of food pets should eat, and how to gently handle pets. Each class was given a soft toy to name and take care of over the next two weeks. They will practise showing care towards the animal, and soon Koto will come back to see how they have handled taking care of the class pet. The students will then get to meet a real dog and visit with a veterinarian to learn more about caring for animals.
This year’s Spring Fair held at the EY&IC raised money to fund several projects at BIS HCMC. The PTG have decided to donate some of that funding to support ARC. We are pleased to announce that from the Spring Fair, 20,000,000VND was donated to Animal Rescue and Care which is a fantastic amount of money! The money will be used by ARC to help the dogs and cats who are so desperately in need.

Joining BIS HCMC in Foundation Stage 2 (F2) is a fantastic age to begin a lifetime love for learning, encouraged and nurtured by our experienced and committed class and specialist teachers, who personalise learning unique to every child. We look back at what our F2s have experienced in less than one term already at BIS HCMC.
