Dear Parents,
Dear Parents,
Caring Community at BIS
It has been heartwarming to see students arriving at school this week with bags full of soft toys and books. The kindness and generosity of our school community always give us hope, and no more so this week in the community service project for a local orphanage. Lead by Ms. Linh and Secondary CAS students, children across the primary have been donating gently used teddy bears and books in a range of languages to give to those in need. Thank you to all who have gotten involved in this wonderful drive.
Our fabulous Friends of BIS committee is organising a feast for Vietnamese teachers' day, which is coming up on the 20th of November. On the back of the success of their children's Halloween event, they now want to share their appreciation for all the staff at BIS Hanoi.
A potluck breakfast to honour the dedicated teachers, support staff, and admin staff across the school is being put together as a community thank you ahead of this significant day for educators in Vietnam. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and our community certainly feels like this as we work together to do our very best for the children in our care. If you would like to get involved in this event, please click here to sign up.
Finally, this week saw the launch of year-group coffee mornings for parents. Shannon Colclough for Years 3 and 4, and Jo Cranmer for Years 1 and 2, enjoyed connecting over coffee in the parent lounge.
One of the primary objectives of these events is to enhance parents' understanding of the school's curriculum, teaching methodologies, and educational philosophy.
Year Group Coffee Mornings serve as a platform for open dialogue between parents and the phase leader, who is in charge of two year groups and responsible for the academic and pastoral progress of all children in their phase. Our phase leaders celebrated the success of the reading initiative that has been running this term and the incredible effort and time our students are putting into daily reading. We know this doesn't happen without help from home, so a huge thank you to parents for their efforts with this too.
We know the value of strong home-school partnerships and that this ensures that every child receives the best possible education. We look forward to the Year 5 and 6 coffee morning on Wednesday, November 22nd.
