Are you ready to join BISAD?
As Dandy Dan said “This is our moment. Keep a cool head and keep those fingers pumpin", ‘cause remember, it's history you'll be writin’. The students of BIS Abu Dhabi firmly positioned themselves in our history books; there was laughter, emotion and energy off the scale. The dance, the vocal, the character performance and the fantastic musicians; this really was a production that had it all, including an amazing team backstage.
As educators we have a duty to create opportunities and a space for the talent to come to the fore, indeed our mission is to create world class learning experiences that recognise and nurture empathetic, resilient and talented individuals. The school production is one of those experiences.
The challenge now lies in utilising the Creative Arts Centre to its maximum potential, allowing the gifts of our students to shine, whether they lie in art, music or performance. This brings the opportunity for us to invite more guest speakers, artists in residence and performing arts groups to share our stage. This fills me with such excitement.
Events like these do not happen without the support of others and we have so many people to thank. Our performing arts team of Adriane O Connor, Drew Cyster, Colette Puchalski and Lucy Want supported the students and gave them confidence and self-belief. Jo Heather and Cate Heather created a sensational set, and the car blew my mind. Special thanks goes to Alyson Hancock, who alongside parents supported costume design and Laura Funnell, who led our props team. I also want to thank the technical team led by our new AV technician Ryan Cristobal and our Head of IT Ismail Alawieh.
There is so much more to come from this creative space, and I am sure that the next few months we will see the arts come to life in our school. Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you for making us all smile.
