Message from the Principal: Bon Voyage

They say that time flies, yet it seems to fly faster the more fun you have and the more you enjoy what you are doing. This academic year now reaches its end, and it has gone by very quickly…. BIS Abu Dhabi is always a very enjoyable place to be.

For some students and families this was their first year at the school, for others this is their 12th. Whether you have been here a short time or a long time, I hope you can look back on the year with fondness and a feeling of pride. The students in our school always make us proud.

In a year of successes, I am pleased to add in a recent accolade which helps underline the success of the school as a whole and how well the students are achieving. In addition to an outstanding ADEK inspection earlier this year, we were also recently inspected as part of the British Schools Overseas framework. This was another outstanding report, and within many extremely positive observations, I thought the following statement highlighted the heart of our school:

“The engagement of learners is outstanding, and a strength of the school. Pupils relish and deeply appreciate learning opportunities in lessons and within the wider curriculum. The classroom is one of their favourite places to be.”

With such talented teachers and staff, as well as wonderfully supportive families, our students are able to thrive. Whether it is their regular classroom or the sports field or an assembly hall, students enjoy their school and make the most of the opportunities they have. Through all this, the partnership of the adults behind them supports them to do their very best…. and somehow, they often seem to achieve more than that!

Our school focuses on three values: Kindness, Honesty, and Respect. These values help make our community the very special place that it is. When we all show Respect to one another and when we are all Honest then we trust and support each other. Above all, being Kind to one another makes all the difference. Every little bit of kindness to someone else in our community helps lift all our community.

My deepest thanks to everyone for everything you do to help our school and make it such a wonderful place to be part of. Whether you are travelling abroad or staying in the UAE for the summer I trust you will have a peaceful and enjoyable time and will look forward to another successful BIS Abu Dhabi year next year.

Finally, on a personal note, my best wishes to every student and every family for the future. We all have our journeys through life, and it has been my absolute pleasure to spend part of that journey here at BIS Abu Dhabi. Bon Voyage to all of us in the journeys that lie ahead!
