Inspired by the latest Nord Anglia INSIGHTS article exploring why the Early Years are the most important years of a child’s education, we know that a child’s most significant learning happens during this time - in ways that are not always immediately visible.
Reflecting on the article, our Primary Assistant Headteacher, Leah Atkins, shares: “Early childhood education is not just preparation for school, it’s preparation for life. With 90% of brain development happening before age five, this crucial stage shapes communication, problem-solving and emotional resilience. Through daily conversations and guided interactions, our experienced teachers foster strong communication skills, laying a solid foundation for literacy and social-emotional growth.”
Rhi continues: “Carefully planned activities within the classroom support fine motor development, refining essential skills for writing and self-care. Beyond the classroom, our extensive outdoor facilities provide endless opportunities for children to develop their gross motor skills. Engaging with the natural environment, they learn to care for plants and animals, bringing their understanding of the world to life.”
