Hi, my name is Hayley O’Connor, and I’m a Year 4 teacher at BIS Abu Dhabi. 

How long have your children been at BIS Abu Dhabi?                                      
My children have been here for 5 years now. They both started studying at BIS Abu Dhabi in FS, when they were tiny. 

Where is “home” for you?                                                              
Liverpool in the UK is where I originate from, but Abu Dhabi is somewhere that very much feels like home for me and my family now, it’s where we feel safe, happy, and very lucky! 

What do you do in Abu Dhabi?                                                           
I am a teacher, so work takes up a large part of my days, but during our free time we love to visit all the amazing amenities that Abu Dhabi has to offer. It really is paradise - especially for children. We love to go kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and snorkelling or just relax in one of the fabulous pools or beaches. 

What brought your family to Abu Dhabi?                                                
Adventure and a better lifestyle for us. 

Tell us something that few people know about you:                                      
I am a cheerleading coach and used to have my own squad back in the UK. However, I’m not sure how successful I’d be at performing a backflip these days!

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the BIS Abu Dhabi community?       
The mix of cultures, traditions, and languages. I love how diverse our community is. There is always someone with a fascinating story to talk to and learn from. 

What do you enjoy most about living in Abu Dhabi?                                     
Honestly? The safety. I love that the children are safe to play out with their friends, without the fear or danger that they would face at home. I love that there is so little crime here and how honest and caring the citizens are. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I land back in Abu Dhabi Airport!
