We are proud to share that our students at The British International School Abu Dhabi achieved exceptional results in this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

For the 2019/20 academic school year, students achieved a pass rate of 98 per cent. The average score of 35 was significantly higher than the IB global average of 29.9 points globally, widening the gap between the school and other IB schools around the world. 

We are delighted to announce that 25 per cent of students from our school achieved 40 points and above. This is the level of attainment required to gain admission to the world's elite universities, such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Stanford.

The highest achieving student, Amandine Cohu, scored 44 points which places her in the top 1% of Baccalaureate Diploma Programme candidates worldwide! Amandine said: "I had an amazing experience doing the IBDP at BIS Abu Dhabi. While being challenging and requiring continuous efforts, the program prepared me well for the University workload as I learned to be independent and efficient with my time. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to build so many experiences through CAS that I can now put forth. I am also glad to have had such a great set of teachers who were all so invested in our progress, and of course an amazing cohort!"

All of the staff at The British International School Abu Dhabi would also like to congratulate our graduating seniors. These students have put in incredible hard work over the years and we can’t wait to see what they do in the future. Students have secured offers from some of the top universities in the world including Cambridge, Ivy League and Kings College London.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is widely regarded as the world’s premier post-16 qualification, offering students a wide range of subjects and opportunities to develop their social and leadership skills. Each student undertaking the IB Diploma studied 6 subjects- 3 at Higher Level and 3 at Standard Level. Students can be awarded a maximum of 7 per subject with an extra 3 ‘bonus’ points available for a combination of their Extended Essay and TOK (Theory of Knowledge) giving a total possible maximum score of 45 points (achieved by the top 0.34% of students worldwide).
